Tutor Training Workshops
All workshops are held on a Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Volunteers need to register and send a check of $30.00 to cover the cost of the
materials. (Scholarships are available.) Please call one of our offices and a registration packet will be mailed to you. Two kinds of workshops are offered. Basic Training teaches volunteers how to teach English speaking students
how to read and write; and ESL Training teaches volunteers how to teach English to speakers of other languages.
Volunteer Opportunities
Literacy Volunteers is a volunteer-driven organization. Trained volunteers tutor adult students who wish to improve their English literacy. We also welcome other volunteers for:
- Office Assistance: Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – noon, and 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Answer the phone, make appointments for assessments, and help with general office work.
- Special Events: Help LVLC coordinate and implement special events that focus on students and tutors or raise funds for the organization.
- Share a Talent: Help LVLC with your artistic, computer, grantwriting or other talent.
If you would like to volunteer to be a tutor or help with other volunteer opportunities, please contact the LVLC office at 242-4374 or lvlcread@earthlink.net.
