How you can help

Funding Realities

Literacy Volunteers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency so all donations to LVLC are tax deductible. It also means that LVLC does not pay sales tax.

Although we are nonprofit, we have all the same costs of any small business: rent and utilities, office supplies and equipment, computer support, Internet access, mileage reimbursement, postage, insurance, government fees and licenses, fundraising expenses, program expenses and salaries. Our monthly costs average $8,000 a month.

Our sources of funds are:

  • Grants
  • United Way
  • Special events
  • Civic clubs
  • Local churches
  • Individual/corporate donations
We do not receive any government support.

Cash Donations
We gratefully acknowledge and appreciate all our donors who choose to be part of our success. All donations are tax deductible. They may be mailed to the LVLC Office.

In-Kind Donations
Donations of supplies, equipment or services are acknowledged with a letter for tax purposes.

Major Donations
If you would like to discuss making a major gift to LVLC, please contact our Executive Director, Tess Murphy, 242-4374.

Leave a Legacy
